Sergio Daniel Kapusta
Sergio Daniel Kapusta has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas business, as technology manager and chief scientist of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. He has worked internationally in all sectors of oil and gas, including research, engineering, operations and strategic planning.
During his time at Shell, Sergio was also a consultant for many of the largest national and international oil companies, including Petrobras, Petronas, BP and ConocoPhillips. He is an internationally recognized expert on materials, asset integrity, corrosion control, and process safety and reliability of operations. As chief scientist, Sergio was responsible for advising Shell’s CEO on the science and technology challenges affecting Shell’s bottom line.
After retiring from Shell in 2015, he has joined the faculty of Rice University in Houston, and Skolkovo Business School in Moscow.
Mark Allen is an operating partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He joined the firm in 2009, bringing KPCB nearly 30 years of experience in high-tech operations and semiconductor manufacturing.
Before coming to KPCB, Mr. Allen was the chief executive officer and president of Transmeta Corp. Transmeta developed and sold software-based microprocessors and developed additional hardware and software technologies that enabled manufacturers to build computers that simultaneously offered long battery life, high performance and x86 compatibility.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Allen was vice president of operations for NVIDIA Corp., a manufacturer of high-performance graphics processors. While there, his efforts to optimize manufacturing operations were primarily responsible for NVIDIA being recognized by the Fabless Semiconductor Association as one of the most respected private fabless companies.
Before joining NVIDIA, Mr. Allen served as vice president of operations for C-Cube Microsystems, a digital video technology company. During his tenure, C-Cube also received the FSA's highest award as one of the most respected public fabless companies.
Before his work at C-Cube, Mr. Allen was vice president of worldwide manufacturing operations for seven years at Cypress Semiconductor Corp., a manufacturer and supplier of integrated circuits. Cypress had multiple wafer fabrication, assembly and test factories in the United States and Asia. He began his career by spending 10 years at National Semiconductor, where he held various positions in wafer fab manufacturing and R&D.
Mr. Allen holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
Dr. Elmira Ryabova, CEO, CTO and Founder
An industry expert with more than 30 years of experience, over 25 scientific and technical papers and presentations, and more than 15 patents authored, award-winning material scientist and technologist Dr. Elmira Ryabova is the technical and business mastermind behind Advenira and its breakthrough SDN® technology.
As CEO, CTO and founder of Advenira, Dr. Ryabova is the driving force and creative engine of the company -- she has taken Advenira from inception and basic research through systems engineering, technology sales and marketing to volume production and manufacturing of complex high-tech systems.
Dr. Ryabova acquired her extensive experience working with novel materials and methods during her tenures at a number of startups and corporations in Silicon Valley, among them Xerocoat, Fidelica Microsystems, UltraDots and Applied Materials.
She has worked with sol-gels and their derivatives for more than 20 years, and has developed many unique inventions as well as acquired broad experience and in-depth knowledge of the chemistry, processes and hardware necessary to utilize sol-gels for photovoltaic manufacturing.
Dr. Ryabova holds a Ph.D. in Material Science from Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Dmitry Akhanov is the President and CEO of Rusnano USA, Inc. Previously, he was the head of the Russian Federal Energy Agency, which was responsible for the implementation of national energy policy and management of state-owned energy assets (oil & gas, coal and electricity industries).
As head of the Strategy Department of RAO UES, Mr. Akhanov was actively involved in developing and implementing strategy for the restructuring of the electricity sector of Russia, and forming a new industry structure and electricity market model. In conjunction with this, he also implemented a number of corporate projects for the separation, merger and acquisition of major energy companies in Russia.
Mr. Akhanov has extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate finance and investor relations.
Ish S. Dugal
Ish S. Dugal is an experienced VC/PE investor and advisor to companies in the areas of technology, energy and healthcare. He currently serves as a senior investment manager in the Silicon Valley office of Rusnano USA, Inc., a $10b global private equity fund.
While pursuing his M.B.A. from Wharton, Mr. Dugal was a principal with Tanager Holdings, a firm with an emphasis on emerging markets. Previously, he held positions as an investment professional in the Washington D.C. office of Paladin Capital Group, a $1b multi-stage global private equity firm, and as an investment analyst at RedShift Ventures, an early-stage technology venture capital firm.
Mr. Dugal has been involved as a board director or observer with more than 12 companies, where he has been active in advising the C-Suite and fellow board members on issues related to strategy, finance and operations.
A few of the successful companies where he has served as an investor include Unitrends, Initiate Systems (acq. by IBM), Crossbow (acq. by Moog), Cloudshield (acq. by SAIC) and QuantaLife (acq. by Bio-Rad). Mr. Dugal has taken part in investing in several companies that have successfully returned between 2-5x invested capital, and one that is valued at greater than 20x invested capital.
Mr. Dugal holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School where he was a Wharton Fellows candidate, and a B.S., Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Maryland – College Park (UMCP).
David Rossiter is president and owner of Electrochem Solutions, Inc., and has more than 30 years of experience in high-tech service/manufacturing, real estate and finance.
Before acquiring Electrochem, Mr. Rossiter served in a senior management position at Pentagon Technologies with P&L responsibility for the Chamber Services Group. He has also held the position as president and controlling shareholder of Chemetal, Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor and microelectronic fabrication equipment UHV parts cleaning and re-conditioning services. He successfully sold Chemetal to Pentagon Technologies.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Rossiter founded and operated two commercial real estate development and management companies. During his time in real estate, he was a licensed real estate broker in California and Colorado.Prior to starting his own real estate companies, Mr. Rossiter held finance and project management positions with a major North American real estate developer. He began his career as a CPA with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, a major public accounting firm.
Mr. Rossiter holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
